History
Bir Hospitals the oldest hospital in the country. The modern surgery was started in Bir Hospital a century ago. Dr Subash Babu from India was the first in history. Real surgery was started in late 1961when it got two post graduate surgeons. This was the golden year in the history of surgery of Bir hospital as ENT and Eye surgeon started their services. After 28 years of its service in 1989 it was able to have six consultant surgeon and some surgical registrars.
Now the general surgery services are included under the Department of surgery. There are three units under general surgery services:
